Serving People is a 501c3 non for profit organization founded with the intent to elevate and inspire the community through empowerment, action, and knowledge. We believe that these are keys to bringing forth your higher self and strive tirelessly to assist through our learning base programs.

These services and programs include offering free clothes, free phone service, Covid testing, giveaways, classes and outreach to residents.

Empowerment

Sign up for our writing curriculum teaching aspects of poetry, music, and creative writing. We also offer tennis lessons during the summer.

Action

Come with us to volunteer at various shelters, senior facilities, pass out clothing to the needy, or participate in study circles to stop the violence.

Knowledge

Currently we pass out positive words for reflection and provide consultation to various organizations. Coming soon is a monthly newsletter and teaching classes in finance, and computer literacy for adults.

Scholarship

Learn more about our scholarship opportunity for youth and young adults who are in pursuit of the arts! We are committed to helping those utilize their artistic abilities as an outlet to be heard.

Talent Outreach

Serving People recently visited Belhaven Senior Facility, within the Morgan Park community, for our 3rd annual caroling event. Participants sang, told short stories, and performed various poems for the seniors. Also, words of inspiration and candy was distributed to the residents. The seniors enjoyed their time and were provided with a sense of hope.

Creative Writing Class

Serving People worked with Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Youth Explosion. This large community event culminated with youth and young adults from around the city. The writing curriculum taught students poetry, songwriting, and hip hop arrangement. By the end of the season, the students were able to create a brief song, and perform in front of their fellow peers.

Community Forum

Serving People attending the peace circle forum hosted by Maple Park Methodist Church on how to combat violence and maintain peace. There was much debate on what is the best plan of action for helping our community become more peaceful. From the meeting, a plan of suggestions were established such as neighbors contacting police upon initial spotting of crime. Different ideas on creating more programs for the youth was another option for maintaining peace.

Positive Reflections

Serving People distribute handbills throughout Chicago with positive sayings to uplift others. This component stresses the importance of staying positive during these difficult times. One can easily fall into depression without something to hold onto. It is a mission of the organization to bring positive energy into the world we live.
